Even during the game, the work doesn’t stop. The field doesn’t stay the way it was at the start. It shifts. It wears down. Every inning leaves something behind. So it gets tended to again.
Not reset the same way it was before everything began, but maintained. Smoothed out just enough. Put back into place so the game can keep going. It’s a different kind of rhythm now. Earlier, it was preparation. Everything being made ready. Now it’s upkeep. A quiet correction as things unfold. Most people don’t notice it happening. It blends into everything else going on. But it’s always there, keeping the game moving without interrupting it This image is part of an ongoing series exploring the quieter side of baseball.
