This is where I share the stories behind my images. You’ll find posts about specific photographs from my galleries — the ideas, inspiration, and process that shaped them — along with reflections on photography itself as I continue to create new work.

The galleries and print store will grow over time, and so will this blog. I hope you’ll explore, leave your thoughts in the guestbook, and return often to see what’s new.

Travel Stories: Kinderdijk Windmill in the Fog – A Unique Netherlands Photography Moment

October 03, 2025  •  Leave a Comment

Foggy Kinderdijk windmill with sunlight breaking through mist in the Netherlands – print availableWindmill in the FogVisited Kinderdijk on a very rainy and cold day and we could only really see 1 windmill at a time because it was so cloudy. However, I really loved the way the light filtered through the clouds with the dying tall grasses in front. Prints available, click the image to go to the store.

Welcome to the first in a series of posts I’m calling Travel Stories. In each one, I’ll share an image from my travels—photos I find interesting and hope you will, too.

A couple of years ago, my wife and I took a cruise down the Rhine river to visit the famous Christmas Markets in Germany. The trip began in Amsterdam and ended in Basel, Switzerland. Our very first stop in the Netherlands was Kinderdijk, a Unesco World Heritage Site, famous for its historic Dutch Windmills.

On a typical day, visitors can see several windmills at once, lined up along the waterways. But the day we arrived was cold (35°F / 2°C), rainy, and wrapped in thick fog. The mist was so heavy that you could only see one windmill at a time—and only when you were almost right next to it. As a tourist, I was a little disappointed. But as a travel photographer, I was thrilled. The unusual weather transformed this famous Dutch landmark into something rare and atmospheric.

It’s always a balance: tourist versus photographer. Sometimes the tourist wins, sometimes the photographer does. That day, the photographer won.

In this image, the sun is just starting to break through, casting soft, golden light into the mist. It’s my favorite photo from that day, and it now hangs in my living room as a 3-foot by 2-foot canvas—a reminder that some of the best travel photography happens when the weather doesn’t cooperate.

If you’d like to bring a piece of this moody Dutch landscape into your own home or office, this photograph is available as a print. Simply click on the image to see purchase options.

Welcome to My Galleries

Welcome to My Galleries

Welcome to the new home for my photography galleries and print store!

For now, you’ll find a small but growing collection of images, carefully curated into themed galleries that reflect the way I see and experience the world through my lens. These galleries are designed to evolve — I’ll be updating them as I create new work, so each visit may bring something fresh.

A Personal Note

After years of building my portfolio, I’m excited to finally share my work in a form you can take home. Photography has always been about capturing moments that feel timeless — and now, through prints, those moments can live beyond the screen and become part of your own space.

The Galleries

Each gallery has its own personality:

  • Built Beauty — abstract details and striking forms of architecture.

  • Ephemeral Bloom — delicate moments in the life of flowers and gardens.

  • The Noir Effect — cinematic storytelling inspired by classic film noir.

  • Taste & Texture — food and beverage studies, where light and detail are as important as flavor.

  • Earth & Sky — landscapes and seascapes that balance stillness and motion.

  • Journeys — photographs from my travels, from iconic landmarks to quiet, hidden corners.

  • Wings & Whispers — intimate bird portraits, highlighting both color and subtlety in nature.

Prints

Every image you see here is available as a print. Whether you’re looking for something bold and architectural, soft and floral, or a landscape that brings peace to your space, there’s an option to bring these moments into your home. Prints make wonderful gifts too, carrying both beauty and story.

Blog Posts

Alongside the galleries, I’ll also be sharing blog posts centered on individual images — both existing photographs and new ones as they’re added. These posts will explore the ideas, inspiration, and process behind each picture. You may also find occasional reflections on photography itself, whether it’s about technique, storytelling, or the creative journey that keeps me behind the camera.

Looking Ahead

I invite you to browse the galleries, discover the themes that resonate with you, and find the image that speaks to your own story. This is just the beginning. Each gallery will continue to expand as I add new work — and as I create new collections, you’ll see brand new galleries appear alongside the ones already here. If you find a theme that speaks to you, keep an eye out — it may evolve into something bigger, richer, and more expansive over time.

Join the Conversation

I’ve also included a guestbook and comment sections throughout the site, and I warmly welcome your thoughts. Feel free to post comments, ask questions, or start discussions about specific images, galleries, or blog posts. I’ll respond to all comments as I’m able to, and I’d love for this to become a space where conversation grows alongside the images.

A Reflection

I hope you can enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed creating them.

Rebranding and website refresh

Please be patient while I rebrand and revamp my website. I'm backing away from weddings and going to focus more on art photography, though I will still do portraits. Please watch this space for a new re-opening coming up!
